Die Steel

The Die Steel is used where longer die life is desired and is especially suited to resist heat checking. The sections of the die, which are made for forming or cutting, can be made of special metal and harden able steel and it is also known as Tool steel. D3 steel, also know as 1.2080 (Werkstoff), is an air hardening, high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel. It displays excellent abrasion/wear resistance and has good dimensional stability and high compressive strength. D3 exhibits excellent stability in heat treatment, holding size almost as well as the air-hardening. The Die Steel is made for industrial uses.
